Lynn Hershman's Biography:
Lynn Hershman-Leeson has worked for the past 30 years in photography, site-specific public art, and video. She is credited as the first artist to create an interactive art videodisk, entitled LORNA, (1979-83). Her 51 videotapes and 4 interactive installations have received many international awards. In 1994, she was the first woman to receive a tribute and retrospective at the San Francisco International Film Festival. She recently received the German ZKM/Seimens Media Arts Award alongside director Peter Greenaway and theorist Jean Baudrillard.
Lynn Hershman-Leeson's work is in numerous collections, including:
- The Museum of Modern Art in New York
- The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota
- The University Art Museum, Berkeley, and
- The Hess Collection in Sonoma County, CA.
Lynn Hershman-Leeson is an artist who works in a variety of electronic media
and cultural forms. She is currently a Professor at the University of California,
Davis where she teaches electronic arts and is the founder of the IDEA Media
Lab.
