Tee A. Corinne

Born 1943, St. Petersburg, Florida, USA, Tee A. Corinne has a B.A. from the Univ. of So. Florida (1965) and a M.F.A. degree from Pratt Institute (1968). She has exhibited in the U.S. since 1965 and been published in the Women's Movement press and elsewhere since 1974.

Books of her art include Bill Doody, A Literary Friendship--Drawings (1994), At Six--an artist's book about being molested as a child (1990), Women Who Loved Women (1984), Drawings '83 (1984), Yantras of Womanlove (1982), The So. Or. Women Writers' Group Picture Book (1982), the Cunt Coloring Book (1975) and others; album covers: Musica Femina, Suede, and Holly Near's Imagine My Surprise; poster: Sinister Wisdom (knowledge from the left side); over fifty covers for Naiad Press books.

Portfolios of her art have been published in Feminist Studies, Gallerie: Women's Art, The Advocate, PGN, The Inciter, I Am My Lover, and Femalia. Her photographs have been published in Calyx, Maize, Libido, A Woman's Touch, off our backs, On Our Backs, Yellow Silk, Cupido, Bad Attitude, Our Bodies/Ourselves, WomanSpirit and elsewhere.

Her work is featured in Nothing But The Girl, Bright and Posener, Cassell (1996), and is discussed in Forbidden Subjects, Kelley (Gallerie, 1992), Stolen Glances, Frazer and Boffin (HarperSanFrancisco, 1991), and The Contest of Meaning, Bolton (MIT Press, 1989).

She was a featured speaker at the second National Women In Photography Conference (1988) and has delivered papers at the following conferences: the Women's Caucus For Art (1994, 1993, 1989, 1988, 1986, 1983), the College Art Association (1996, 1994, 1991), the Berkshire Conference on Women and History (1987, 1981, 1980), the NW Women's Studies Association (1994, 1991, 1988), Lewis and Clark Genders (1996) and the National Women's Studies Asso. (1984, 1981, 1980, 1979).

"Family," her show of mixed-media drawings about growing up in an alcoholic family, is the subject of a video interview by Jane Scott Productions and a monograph published by Gallerie Publications.

A co-facilitator of the Feminist Photography Ovulars (1979-1981) and a co-founder of The Blatant Image, A Magazine of Feminist Photography (1981- 1983), she is a founding board member and past co-chair of the Gay and Lesbian Caucus (an affiliated society of the College Art Association) and a past national board member of the Women's Caucus for Art. Author of one novel, three collections of short stories and three books of poetry, her most recent book is Mama, Rattlesnakes, and Key Lime Pie. Her autobiography, The Sex Lives of Daffodils, in manuscript form, is accessible through various libraries in the USA.

She has curated AIDS awareness shows, Women's History Month shows, and exhibits of self-portraits by women artists. She is the art books columnist for Feminist Bookstore News and the Women's Caucus for Art (WCA) Update.

Her photo-collages from solarized negatives have been exhibited in "In A Different Light" at University Art Museum, UC Berkeley (1995) and "Sexual Politics" at the Armand Hammer Museum, UCLA (1996).
